Rosie Holmes – Service Manager: 25 years of caring
‘The most rewarding times are going into desperate situations, where people aren’t coping, and really turned things around for them.’
– Rosie Holmes, Service ManagerRosie had years of experience – both as a midwife and then, with Frantec, as a live- in carer. For nearly 25 years she’s been part of the Frantec team, helping create and maintain care systems for clients and their Personal Support Workers.
I trained and worked as a midwife for several years. A friend was doing live-in care; I thought I’d give it a try. In 2002 my client switched to Frantec and insisted I come with her as Personal Support Worker. Two years later I had my first son and couldn’t do live-in, but I didn’t want to leave, so I started working part-time in the office.
As service manager I oversee interactions between staff and clients, adapting and building systems, and then keeping an eye on all the tasks – big and small – that live-in care entails. I still learn something new every single day.
It’s such a rewarding career – especially when we meet people in desperate situations and really turn things around for them. And I’m proud that we go above
and beyond – whether that’s continued support for clients whose funding ceases temporarily, arranging dignified funerals for those who have no family to do it, or fun stuff like involving clients with parties, competitions, filmmaking and more.
